Welcome!
Ms. Rainville earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from CSU Fullerton and her Art Education Credential from CSU Long Beach. She has been teaching art at San Marcos High School since 1996. During this time she has taught Ceramics, Color & Design, Freehand Drawing, Painting, including advanced level courses for all subjects, and AP Studio Art in Drawing and 2-D Design. She is also authorized to teach AP Studio Art in 3-D Design.
My goals as an art educator are to develop strong drawing and design skills in my students while exposing them to a breadth of media and techniques. We learn about art history and culturally relevant artists, especially contemporary artists who are leading the way forward in the exciting world of art and creativity. Being able to draw and paint from observation is critical, so copy work and using grids are limited. I value student choice and avoid cookie-cutter type projects because I want my student's to develop their own voice with work that is personal and reflects their interests and concerns.
In my free time I enjoy making art, gardening and traveling. In addition to being an artist, I am also an athlete who enjoys trail running marathons and competitve outrigger canoe paddling.
